On Thursday 28th March Actikem attended the Chemicals North West Awards at the Imperial War Museum in Manchester. The Awards honour excellence across a wide spectrum of business activity, from Innovation to Sustainability and from Young Talent to Supplier to the Chemical Industry. Actikem were winners of the ‘Supplier to the Chemical Industry’ at last year’s awards, however despite being up for four awards, it wasn’t to be this time around.
The Imperial War Museum was a fantastic venue for the event, with the tables located amongst the museum’s exhibits. The building is built on a bombsite and its watershard gives recognition to the area’s shipping past. A lovely three course meal was provided, which included: duck salad, braised beef and chocolate marquise, or leek and red onion frittata and mille feuille for the vegetarian option.
The awards ceremony was hosted by Alexis Conran who is best known from his role in BBC Three’s ‘Real Hustle’, where his task was to hoodwink unsuspecting victims demonstrating various tricks and traps along the way. Alexis was very entertaining on the night and even shared some of his favourite stories from his time on the show.
All in all, Actikem had a great time at the event and despite not managing to pick up a prize, we were honoured to be nominated in four different categories: supplier to the chemical industry, the sustainability award and our two nominees for the young talent award, Becky Brown and Laura Weston. We will now work hard to make sure we are nominated again for next year’s event and add to our ever-growing trophy cabinet!
