Who are Macmillan Cancer Support?
‘World's Biggest Coffee Morning’ is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraising event. Each year, people in the UK and worldwide host their own Coffee Morning. The donations received go towards Macmillan services. In 2016 alone, World's Biggest Coffee Morning raised £29.5 million.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. They offer support and guidance right from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to their treatment and beyond, giving the energy and inspiration needed to fight the battle of cancer.
How Did Actikem Get Involved?
Actikem decided to host their own ‘Biggest Coffee Morning’ which went down a storm! The Actikem team also took part in several fundraising activities, which included ‘Dunk the Biscuit in the Cuppa’, ‘Guess how many Berries are in the Pie’ and Trevor Gleave’s famous ‘Dice Game’!
Tell me more about the Cakes!
After some planning and preparation from members of the Sales Team, it was decided that every member of staff bring in either a shop-bought or home-made cake. Let’s just say that the Actikem Team didn’t disappoint, providing a wonderful selection, including chocolate brownies, cherry bakewells, carrot cake, toffee cake, chocolate cake, Danish pastries and cheesecake! We all decided that the diet would have to wait until another time!
How much did Actikem raise?
A grand total of £80 was raised on the day through the Cake Sale and the various games. The Directors kindly matched the £80 raised, meaning that £160 was sent to Macmillan Cancer Support. The 2019 ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ has so far managed to raise £2,831,950 (and still counting), which is a great result!
A big thank you to the Sales Staff who organised the event and to all the staff that got involved and made donations for such a great cause.
