We recently hosted a high-profile delegation from Hidex, our long-standing partners based in Turku, Finland. The visit to Actikem’s Warrington Head Office marks a significant step forward in the collaborative relationship between the two companies, with a renewed focus on innovation and New Product Development (NPD).
The visiting party included three senior members of the Hidex technical team. Notably, the delegation included a specialist Development Chemist, signalling a clear intent to drive advancements in the chemical formulations that power Hidex’s cutting-edge laboratory equipment.
The core of the partnership lies in our manufacture of Liquid Scintillation Cocktails. These specialised chemical mixtures are essential consumables used within Hidex’s high-performance laboratory instruments.
As detailed on their website, Hidex is a global leader in the development and manufacture of high-technology analysis equipment for life science research, radiation measurement, and nuclear medicine.
Their Liquid Scintillation Counters (LSC), such as the Hidex 300 SL and 600 SL, rely on high-purity chemical cocktails to detect and measure radiation levels in samples with extreme precision.
Actikem plays a pivotal role in this ecosystem by manufacturing these complex liquid chemical formulations to exact specifications. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for technical experts from both sides to collaborate directly on optimising these fluids for current and future generations of Hidex machinery.
The presence of a dedicated Development Chemist during the visit highlights the forward-looking nature of this partnership. Discussions centred on New Product Development, exploring how Actikem can refine existing blends or create new chemical solutions to match the evolving capabilities of Hidex’s detection technology.
Actikem’s Managing Director, Andrew Mooney comments, ‘Welcoming the Hidex technical team to our Warrington facility underlines the strength of our international collaboration, by working face-to-face with their development experts, we can ensure that the Liquid Scintillation Cocktails we manufacture continue to meet the rigorous standards required by the global scientific community using Hidex equipment.’
This collaboration is a testament to Actikem’s reputation for quality and technical capability in the niche chemical sector. Actikem specialises in bespoke chemical manufacturing and blending, offering a reliable outsourcing solution for companies requiring high-specification liquid chemicals.
By combining Hidex’s world-class engineering with Actikem’s manufacturing expertise, the partnership ensures that end-users - ranging from research laboratories to environmental monitoring agencies - receive a complete, high-quality solution for their radiometric analysis needs.
